Money chain letter. War stamp. Ten forward plus two to
top. US, 1942.
Boonville,
Indiana
November 9, 1942
Ordinarily chain letters give me a pain in the neck, but
here is one that I can't persuade myself to pass up. It
was started by Mr. Ernest T. Trigg and requires that I
send you a 25¢ Defense Stamp, which is attached.
I understand that this particular chain letter has the
approval of the government. The cause is so worthy that
I feel sure you will not break the chain and to complete
it you will:
A...Select ten of your friends and send them each a 25¢
Defense Stamp.
B...Ask that they do likewise to ten of their friends.
C...In addition to sending a 25¢ Defense Stamp to ten of
your friends, send two (2) Defense Stamps to the name
at the head of the attached five-name list.
Please
remove the name marked No. 1 and add your name as
No. 5, moving up each one ahead of yours; therefore
your name will become No. 1 in due course and you
will
receive similar attention.
If you continue this, there will be an astronomical amount
of Defense Stamps sold.
Sincerely,
Albert C Derr
Albert C. Derr
If you do not want to continue the chain please return
this letter to me so it can be sent to some other person.
