Parody chain letter (published). Husband exchange. Australia, 1986?

CHAIN LETTER FOR WOMEN

This chain letter was started by a woman like yourself in the hopes of bringing relief to other tired and discontented women.

Unlike most chain letters, this one doesn't cost anything. Just send a copy of this letter to five of your friends then bundle up your husband and send him to the woman whose name appears on the top of the list.

When your name comes to the top, you will receive 16,877 men and one of them is bound to be better than the one you have now.

DO NOT BREAK THE CHAIN, HAVE FAITH!

One woman broke this chain and got her own son of a bitch back.  At the time this letter was written, a friend of mine had already received 184 men. They buried her yesterday, but it took three undertakers and 36 hours to get the smile off her face, and two days to get her legs together so they could close the coffin.

Have faith.

Signed,
A LIBERATED WOMAN.

From Seal, Graham. The Hidden Culture: Folklore in Australian Society. Oxford Univ. Press: Melbourne, 1989. p. 67-8.  "A chain letter that seems to have become popular in recent years through out Australia, and possibly elsewhere, is the 'man chain.'  This item appears to be a piece of women's folklore, akin in some ways to the 'nude male centerfold' item of reprographic lore already mentioned."
